Orchid Species Discovery: Gastrodia munasinghae & G. thilakapremae
As published this fall in the scientific journal Phytotaxa, two new orchid species were discovered in Sri Lanka. Gastrodia munasinghae and Gastrodia thilakapremae are both deemed critically endangered according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
