Rarities and Oddities of the Orchid World
For our May meeting, we are so pleased to welcome special guest speaker Ron Parsons, accomplished author, photographer, grower, and conservationist.
Ron Parsons has been growing orchids for 50 years. Ron has given more than 500 talks on various botanical topics, and has over 6500 published photos. He loves to photograph orchids and other flowers. Ron has more than 108,000 digital images of mostly orchids and retains a slide library that exceeds 100,000 botanical images.
Ron has co-authored five books on botanical subjects, all with Mary E. Gerritsen. These include Masdevallias, Gems of the Orchid World; Calochortus, Mariposa Lilies and their Relatives; Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species; The American Orchid Society Guide to Orchids and their Culture; and the second edition of A Compendium of Miniature Orchids Species, which includes 500 species and 1800 photos that were not in the first edition.
